Aproximately 50.000 people live on the Faroe Islands of which 17.000 live in the capital - Tórshavn. Faroe Islands is a partial autonomous part of the Danishc Commonwealth and has had a home rule government since 1948 and by that Lagtinget was created. Lagtinget is entitled to legislate about specific Faroese issues and Landsstyret is the administrative unit.
Geography
Faroe Islands consist of 18 smaller islands located in the northern Atlantic Ocean between Norway, Iceland and Scotland. The nature is characterised by grassy rocks and Kap Enniberg på Vidoy is by its 754 meters one of the highest promontory in Europe. A nothing less than amazing nature.
Culture and the people
The Faroese have their own cultural traditions and are distinctive for the islands. For instance chain dance, folk songs and music is part of the cultural living. The language is also an important part of the culture and is upheld in the society. The people on Faroe Islands are very hospitable and forthcoming when meeting visitors and tourists.
Gastronomy
